Starr Hunt, born on August 19, 1947, in New York, peacefully passed away on March 13, 2024, in Wilmington, NC. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of God. Starr lived a life dedicated to her family and her faith, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.

Throughout her life, Starr worked in various roles in the finance industry before retiring. However, her true passion and purpose were found in her commitment to Christ. In 1980, she gave her life to the Lord and never wavered in her faith, serving God faithfully and wholeheartedly.

In 1989, Starr made the courageous decision to move to Wilmington, NC, with the sole intention of providing her daughter with a better life. She became an integral part of the community, belonging to several area churches, with her most recent membership at Long Leaf Baptist Church.

Starr is survived by her two daughters: Crystal Ragussa of New York City and Celina Smith of Wilmington, NC. She is also survived by her grandsons: Fredrick (Abby) Smith Jr. of Charleston, SC and Tyrease Smith of Wilmington, NC., granddaughters: Angel (Denzil) Pollard of Raleigh, NC and Samantha Smith of Wilmington, NC and great-grandchildren: Denzil Pollard Jr. and Ada Pollard of Raleigh, NC. who meant the world to her and brought immense joy into her life.

Starr will be dearly missed by her family, but they find solace in the values she instilled in them. Her unwavering Christian faith gives them hope and assurance that they will be reunited with her in heaven one day.

Starr Hunt’s life was a testament to love, faith, and selflessness. May her memory continue to inspire all who knew her, and may she rest in eternal peace.

Starr will be remembered in a private ceremony for family and close friends on Friday, March 29th (Good Friday).

2 Timothy 4: 7-8: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
