Stephen George Poirier, age 55, of Wilmington passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. He was born in Ontario, Canada on July 30, 1959 to George Poirier and the late Rita Lavoie Poirier.
Stephen graduated from Laney High School and began his career as an auto mechanic.

Stephen is survived by his dad, George Poirier (Mary Elizabeth); son, Brandon Poirier (Samantha); grandson, Hayden Poirier; daughter, Krystal P. Greenhaw (Zach); sisters, Debbie P. Brown (Rick) and Susie P. Pierce (Gary); five nephews; two nieces; Uncle Rene Poirier (Rita) and Uncle Larry Poirier (Gladys); Aunt Jeanne P. Pigeon (Maurice), eight cousins and special friends Barbara and Al Mallard.

The family would like to thank Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their love and concern shown to Stephen during his illness.
There will be a graveside service held 2:00 PM Friday, September 19, 2014 at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Reverend Jeff Loman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 or the charity of one’s choice.

    Steve was a great person he did not have much but always gave of himself to help others.he helped me on many occasions. He was not just my neighbor he was our friend. I am so sorry for you and your family to have to go through this sudden loss. We love you and we miss you Steve.
