Stephen Lee Helms died Tuesday, April 12, 2011.

He was born on November 16, 1938 to Robert and Ethel Helms. He was a proud veteran of the US Army, honorably discharged in 1961, and graduated from Wilmington College in 1963.

Known to his friends as Steve, he worked at Sears Tire Center for many years, and retired from the Salvation Army as a truck driver, warehouse and kitchen employee for 15 years.

Steve was married for 25 years to Eleanor Helms, and is survived by his son, Stephen K. Helms of Leland, granddaughters, Jessica Helms and Kayla Helms of Wilmington
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
