Stephen E. Sattler, 61, passed away on March 31, 2019. He was predeceased by his father, Robert E. Sattler.

Surviving family include his loving wife, Laura, his mother Anna, sister Debbie and husband Doug; sister Katie, and sister-in-law Lisa.

Stephen spent 25 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, retiring as a CWO3 Marine Inspector in Wilmington, NC.

After retiring from the USCG, he went to work for the City of Wilmington first as a Code Enforcement Officer and then as the Zoning Officer. He was a well respected member of the Wilmington community.

His family is having a memorial service in the Seattle area. There is no local service planned.

    I am Steve's nephew. Uncle Steve was a good and generous man and a great husband. He had a big heart and he was my favorite Uncle. I have the best memories staying with my Aunt Laura and my Uncle Steve and going on trips with them. Nobody could tell story like Uncle Steve and he had a lot to tell. He will be forever remembered and missed. Love you Uncle Steve

    When I met Steve in 1980, I knew right away that he was special...he had such a great smile and sparkling eyes that drew me to him, and it didn't take long before I fell in love, and we married two years later. Steve was a good husband, my soul mate, best friend, and just an all-around nice guy who I will love and miss forever. We were such a great team, and he was my reason for living each day! I've had a difficult time dealing with his loss, and it has taken me over a year to post this, but I am finally writing to honor his memory. He is with God now and at peace!     I consider myself fortunate to have lived next door to Steve and Laura and to have enjoyed his neighborly company. He was a lovely person. Always ready with a helping hand , if asked, and always a smile. It's a tragedy to loose him so young.
