Susan Layne Lewis Sellars, age 58, of Leland, went to be with her Savior and Lord on Monday, November 18, 2013 SECU Hospice Center of an extended illness.

She was born May 6, 1955 in Albemarle, NC to the late Reverend Herman and Helen Jeffers Lewis. Susan was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church. She graduated in 1973 from North Brunswick High School and received her associates degree in early childhood development from Miller Motte College. She worked at S.P.E.C. Childhood Development Center in Leland. Susan was instrumental in starting The Toy Store of the Brunswick Baptist Association and very active in missions with children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Jimmy Lewis.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Reverend John M. Sellars, two daughters, Julia Layne Sellars of Williamston and Kimberly Sellars Horton and husband Blake of Robersonville; two grandchildren, Tristan Thomas Horton and Luke Marcus Horton; two sisters, Cheryl Simmons and husband Ray of Rocky Point and Beth Lewis of Leland; and two nieces, Natalie and Abby Lewis.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Faith Baptist Church in Bolivia with the Reverend Kenneth Long and Reverend Jeff Gibby officiating. Burial will follow in King Memorial Garden, Leland.

The family will be receiving friends at the church from 11 a.m. until hour of service.

Pallbearers will be Ray Simmons, Earl Hewitt, James Henderson, Billy Clayton, Jeff Lane, and Dwight McDowell.
