Sylvia Wilkins Barefoot 76, of Burgaw died Friday, June 10, 2011 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Sylvia was born in Harnett County on September 9, 1934 the daughter of the late John Dave and Kizzie Ellen Jones Wilkins, and was predeceased by her husband’s Elton Earp and IC Barefoot. She was a member of Oak Grove Presbyterian church.

Surviving are a daughter Sylvia Milliken of Burgaw, Sandra Moran and husband Gene of Madison, WI., son Jimmy Earp of Wallace, sister Vennie Barefoot of Wilmington and Rowena West of Angier, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and her canine she loved Lou.

Memorial service will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. The Reverend Harold Manning will conduct the service. The family will see friends from 1:00 PM until service time.

    I'm sorry for your loss. Death is never easy to accept which is why it's called an enemy in the Bible at 1 Corinthiains 15:26. But Jesus gave us a hope in the Bible at John 11:25: "I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life." So, we will be able to see our loved ones again by means of the resurrection. Then we will never have to lose them again. Why can we say that? Because God has promised us this in the Bible at such scriptures as Isaiah 25:8, Isaiah 26:19, and Revelation 21:3-5. Isn't this good news? Please read these scriptures in your own Bible.
