Thomas Christopher Butler, 43, of Leland, NC passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012 at his home in Leland, North Carolina.

Chris is survived by his parents Thomas M. and Mary A. Butler and sister Wanda B. Leggett. In addition to his parents and sister he is survived by his wife Wendy Bryant Butler, son Christopher Colton Butler, and step-children Kelly Bryant, Joseph, Grayson, and Benjamin Denman all of the home.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Leland NC. Interment will follow at Nelson Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

The following will serve as pall bearers: Paul Allen, David Brock, Donnie Burckhalter, Alan Head, Gerald Leggett, Billy Lewis, Dean Rathburn, and Chris Yaun.

    Hi Mary, I'm so sorry to hear about Chris. Even though I have not seen Chris in a long time,I often think about him.When we first meet back in 5th grade we quickly became good friends.We spent a lot of time together.Some of it in the principal's office. He was a big part of my life growing up and I will always remember him.You guys will be in my prayers.

    He never met a stranger and he lived life to the fullest.His time on earth was too short. I have kept in touch with him over the years. Last time I saw him he was getting his physical and getting blood work done. There will never be another like him. I send my deepest sympathy. Chris Yaun's mom
