Thomas McCutcheon, 89, of Wilmington, died on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Mr. McCutcheon was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a 3rd Degree Mason and was a member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and served as a deacon of the church.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Coldiron McCutcheon and a grandson, Stephen Lilly.

He is survived by daughters, Linda Wells and husband Ron and Brenda Lilly and husband Gerald; brother, Shirley McCutcheon; sister, Zelda Davis; grandchildren, Rodney Lilly, Holly Wells Schiller and Seth Wells; ten great- grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren.

    Even though I did not know Thomas personally, I really wanted to express my condolences to you and your family. God’s word the bible speaks of a time when death will be a thing of the past. Revelation 21:3, 4 is a comforting scripture that I wanted to share with you during your time of sadness.
