Thomas C. Cooper, Sr, 67, of Winnabow, went on to Victory on Monday, August 2, 2010, at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice LifeCareCenter.
He was born February 16, 1943, in Milton, WV, son of Pearl Cooper and the late Kenneth Cooper and he was preceded in death by his son Tommy Cooper Jr.
Tom was a 1961 graduate of Milton High School and attended Marshall University. He loved life and life loved him. His family and his church were the most important things to him and he led life by example. Tom was a 32nd degree Mason, Past President and Lifetime Member of the Supper Optimist Club, Sunday School Teacher, Baseball/Softball Coach, Real Estate Broker, and a member of the Toastmasters. Self employed for many years, he eventually retired from Lowe’s Home Improvement.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Marge Cooper, daughter Gretta Cooper Clinger and brother Gary Cooper (Becky). Also left to cherish his memories are grandchildren Megan Cooper Fargason (Dustin), Thomas Carroll Cooper III (Trey), Sean Cooper, Jake Clinger, and a very special great grandchild Hannah Fargason. His love extended out to several brothers and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews, and special friends that he will always cherish.
A special thanks for the wonderful care that was given to Tom by the NHRMC 6th floor staff and to Dr. Birgit Arb, Delayne Godwin PA-C and the staff of Hanover Medical Specialists.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 6, 2010 at Wrightsville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Bauman and the Rev. P.D. Midgett officiating. Music will be provided by Julia Walker-Jewell and Kelly Jewell.
