Thomas Wilber Yelton, III, affectionately known as Tommy, passed away on September 13, 2023, at Lower Cape Fear Life Care. He was born on May 17, 1962, in Rowan County, NC.
Tommy lived a life filled with passion and adventure. Throughout his 61 years, he embraced every moment and pursued his interests with unwavering enthusiasm. As a dedicated employee of General Electric for 36 years, he demonstrated commitment and perseverance in his work.
But it was in the great outdoors where Tommy truly thrived. He had a deep love for nature and found solace in the vastness of the world around him. Whether he was riding the waves while surfing, mastering the art of skateboarding, or casting his line as an avid fisherman, Tommy found joy in every adventure.
One could often find him atop his ATV, exploring new trails and taking in the beauty of the landscape. But perhaps his favorite pastime was sitting in his rocking chair on the front porch, watching the world go by. Tommy cherished those peaceful moments, finding contentment in simply observing the ebb and flow of life.
Tommy’s legacy lives on through his two sons, Brandon Yelton and Dylan Yelton, who were his pride and joy. He was a loving and devoted father and mother; Thomas (Tom) Wilber Yelton and Jean Poole Yelton, always there to support and guide them through life’s ups and downs. Tommy’s presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of life service will be held 6:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, October 6, 2023 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Life Care,https://lifecare.org/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=GMB, a cause close to his heart.
