Timothy Jay Smith went home to be with his Lord & Savior on August 19, 2023.
Tim was a truck driver for Overnite Transportation Company for over 20 years. In his younger years he was an avid surfer. If he wasn’t working he was surfing at Carolina Beach. Tim was a devoted father and grandfather. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren and was not afraid to let everyone know it.
Tim was proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents, Manning & Alma Hyatt, paternal grandparents Lenny & Carrie Smith, his mother Ollie Hyatt Smith, father Charles Coleman Smith (Smitty) and brother Charles Coleman Smith, Jr. Tim is survived by his daughter Starr Anders (Jason) of Richlands, NC, Son Captain T.C. Smith (Becca) of Riegelwood, NC three grandchildren Austin Anders, Zoe Anders and Coleman Smith as well as his sister Kim Watkins (Bobby) brothers Larry Brunson-Smith (Joseph), Gary Smith,  nieces and nephews Jeremy Russell (Bibiana), Joshua Russell (April), Beth Smith (Alex), great nieces and nephews Joceyln Russell, Jacob Russell, Jyler Russell and Joycelind Williams.
The family will be gathered at 4607 Long Leaf Hills Drive, Wilmington, NC. and A Celebration of Life Service will conducted at 2:oo pm on Wednesday August 23, 2023 at Pine Valley Church of God (3810 Shipyard Blvd.) with the family receiving friends at 1:00 pm at the church.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Ocean Cure 607 N. Lake Park Blvd., Carolina Beach, NC 28428.

    Kim, Larry, Gary and family I am so very sorry for your loss. Tim was such a sweet person and he accepted whatever life handed him the good with the bad kept the faith and carried on. I admired you Gary for picking him up on Sundays and bringing him to church showing such brotherly love. Tim always ha d a smile on his face. You will be in my thoughts and prayers in the days ahead as you go in life without your dear brother it’s a big adjustment as I have walked in your shoes and know. God bless you all
