Timothy “Tim” Earl Tison, age 44 of Wilmington, died Friday, February 18, 2011 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center with friends and family by his side.

Born in Conway, S.C., Tison is survived by his wife Kelly, his mother Nelda Formyduval Tison of Nakina, N.C., father William Earl Tison of Whiteville, N.C. and his maternal grandfather Pastor William Guy Formyduval of Nakina. Tison was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Dewitt and Alma Tison of Whiteville and his maternal grandmother Reba Stanley Formyduval of Nakina.

A native of Nakina, N.C., Tim moved to North Myrtle Beach, S.C. in the 1980s where he became an avid surfer, windsurfer and sailor. It was in North Myrtle Beach where Tim met his wife, Kelly. The two were married at Fort Fisher and then settled in Wilmington.

Tim loved to spend time with friends boating, surfing, windsurfing, and fishing. He was a military history buff and enjoyed caring for his two German Shepherds, long talks on the phone with his father and was rarely seen without his loving wife, Kelly, by his side.
