SFC Tommy Ernest Carter, US Army Retired, know to many as “TC” passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017 after bravely fighting a short illness surrounded by those who loved him the most.

“TC” was born on April 20, 1947 in Waxhaw, NC to the late Ernest and Edna Carter.

“TC” is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ann Dayvault Carter; son Patrick Shawn Carter and wife Kathy; daughter, Lisbeth Ann Carter and spouse Lauren; grandchildren, Sean Carter Crapo, Rick Bennett, Max Bennett, Makenna Carter, and Braden Carter.

“TC” served his county in the US Navy for 4 years where he fought bravely through the Vietnam War. Upon his return home he joined the US Army where he continued his career for another 28 years before retiring with a rank of Sgt First Class. He then moved to Wilmington NC with his family. “TC” began a new career in construction and worked for several companies learning many different skills. That’s where he found his dream job of working for the New Hanover County Landfill where he continued to work until his retirement.

“TC” was a fighter and taught his family to be strong and to face each challenge with a “You Can Do It” attitude. He will be missed by those who loved him and there will be void in their hearts until together again.
