Tracy Durant Lawson, born October 24, 1972, died February 18, 2011.

She is survived by her son, Aidan Michael Lawson and his father, Steven Lawson; grandparents Glenn and Ed Wilson and parents Randy and Shirley Wilson, and sisters Lisa Lamb and Patty Hulcher and husband Clay, and brother Eddie Wilson. Preceded in death by grandfather John LeRoy Lamb, Jr. and survived by grandmother Mary Lamb, parents Vic and Robin Lamb, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Also survived by extended family members Faye and Hyman Adcox and family.Special thanks go to caregivers Karen Roberts, Yvonne Nutter and Michele Winstead.

Tracy loved with all of her heart and her radiant smile brightened the life of everyone who knew her. She was a devoted mother and the joy of her life was her son, Aidan. Filled with kindness, compassion, joy and laughter, Tracy welcomed everyone she met into her wide circle of extended family members and friends. She was a gift to this world and loved by so many.

Tracy called Wilmington, North Carolina home but loved to travel. Destinations included Australia, England, France, Greece, Italy, Mexico and the Bahamas. Diagnosed with colon cancer in 2007, she fought a valiant battle and remained determined to live life to the fullest until the moment she passed from this world. Life goals achieved despite her illness included sky diving, zip lining, snowboarding, white water rafting down the Colorado River and hot air ballooning. She also completed the race car driver school experience at Talladega Speedway and travelled cross country by car.

Services will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Riley’s Creek Baptist Church in Rocky Point, NC. The viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 12:00 noon. A luncheon will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the church hall.

Tracy loved flowers and they are welcomed to honor her. Also welcomed and much appreciated are donations to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, whose staff cared so lovingly and diligently for Tracy at the end of her battle. Both they and Tracy will remain in our hearts forever.
