Tyce Wayne Lovette

June 20, 1946 - October 1, 2013
Tyce Wayne Lovette

He was loved and will be missed, by so many, many friends and family. Tyce Lovette “slipped the surly bonds of earth” on October 1, 2013, to be gone from our sight, but not our heavy hearts, forever.

Born June 20, 1946, Tyce grew up on the “Mill Hill” in an area of Fayetteville called Massey Hill. He was raised and loved very dearly by his grandmother, “Ma Ed”, and her husband, Jimmy Watts, who both preceded him in death, and who he missed very much. His father, “Blackie” Lovette, also preceded him in death.

He has two sisters, “Kat” and “Sissy”. One living in Hope Mills and one in South Carolina. His mother, “Lady” also lives/lived in Fayetteville.

Tyce attended Massey Hill High School, til June 1963, when he joined the US Navy. He served his country proudly til 1965. When he returned to Fayetteville, Tyce went into the insurance business, and he attended Fayetteville Tech to get a business degree. He married Marianne Dumanski, and helped raise her daughter, now Marie Dixon, who he loved very much. When they divorced, he decided he loved fishing more than selling insurance, so eventually he moved to Carolina Beach to learn how to fish.
Tyce was a fixture on Carolina Beach for over 40 years. Everyone knew and loved him.
Tyce had remained lifelong friends with his golf and hunting buddy, “BJ” Billy Johnson, his wife Yvonne, and their sons Billy, Jr. and Robbie. He had lost touch with most of his friends from MHHS, until recently when he joined Facebook, and reconnected with many of them. Although the number of e-mails he was receiving aggravated him, he enjoyed touching base with his old friends.

Tyce loved his life , had no regrets, and had recently said he would not have changed a thing about it. He did it his way. He was his own kind of wonderful.

There will be “A Celebration of Life” gathering on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 3:00 pm. It will be held at the American Legion Post 129, 1500 Bridge Barrier Rd., Carolina Beach, NC.

Everyone who knew Tyce is invited to attend.
