Vander “David” Norris of Leland, NC, died Friday, June 24, 2011, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC.

He was born in Chadbourn, NC, on December 26, 1939, the son of the late Emery and Monnie (Rogers) Norris and was preceded in death by three brothers.

Vander was a veteran of the U.S. Army and enjoyed fishing but most of all, loved talking, telling stories and sharing with his friends. He was a retired commercial truck driver and attended Leland Church of God. His hobby was eating and enjoying good food and fellowship.

Surviving are: his wife Dorothy (Justice) Norris of 33 years, three daughters, Cheryl Anderson and husband Chuck of Burton, MI, Diane Paulsen and husband Thomas of Ft. Worth, TX and Suzanne Hall of Leland, NC, a son Dale Reeves and wife Rose of Layton, UT, three sisters, Kate Haller of Falls Church, VA, Mavis Talbott and husband Richard of WV and Mildred Ganey and husband David of Leland, NC, nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Sunday, June 26, 2011, in the Leland Church of God, 9842 Wayne Street, Leland, NC, with Pastor Nelson R. Coleman.
