Mr. Vernon Allen Thomas age 77, of Carolina Beach, NC. passed away Monday, September 6, 2010 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice&LifeCareCenter.
Mr. Thomas is son of the late Vine Allen Thomas and Pearl Lee Toler Thomas, he is also predeceased by a sister, Constance Marian Thomas.
Vernon was a longtime Accountant for Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company in Durham.
He was a Mason, member of Elk Lodge #568 and the Civitan Club. Vernon was an avid golfer.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 26 years Joan Thomas, daughters Connie (Randy) Hemric of Durham, Wendy (John) LeMay of Durham, and Missy Thomas Seate of Knightdale, 6 grandchildren Erin and Allyson Hemric, Adam and Rebecca LeMay,
Joseph and Joshua Seate and brother Ronnie Thomas of Durham, he is also survived by his former wife Barbara Thomas of Raleigh.
Memorial service will be 11:00 am, Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Clements Funeral Service Chapel in Durham where the family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service and 30 minutes following the service. Dr. Clay Waters will officiate.
