Vickie Diane Bullock, 73, born January 11, 1950, in Danville, VA, passed away January 17, 2023, peacefully in Wilmington, NC after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was the only daughter of Carl and Margaret Lewis Gentry, also of Danville, VA.
She was preceded in her death by her parents and grandson Zachary Pruitt.
Vickie is survived by her daughter, Michelle Pruitt (Robert), granddaughters, Krista Pruitt (Christopher) and Rikki Pruitt (Demetrius), great granddaughters, Kylie Pruitt, Raelynn Shields, Dallas Shields, and great grandson Kayden Shields.
Vickie loved her family dearly and unconditionally. “Meme” was a name given to her by Krista as a young child and from that moment on, if you knew her, you knew and loved her as Meme. She was born and raised in Danville, VA, attended George Washington High School and worked for many years in Dan River Mill Textiles. She enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, attending church, and gardening. Although, toward the end of life these things became hard to do, she never lost faith. She gave comfort to others when she herself was not well, she loved the simple things in life, and she always made sure to be present in everyone’s lives. Making memories with her family and friends meant the world to her, she loved seeing others joyful and happy. Meme loved endlessly and remained strong for as long as her body would allow and is now at peace.
The family ask that you join them in celebrating her life at the Southport Waterfront located on East Bay Street, Saturday January 28th at 3 PM.
We would like to express our gratitude to all that have comforted and supported us during this difficult time. We cannot express how much it means to us. We ask that in honor of Meme you make memories with those that you love.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
