Virginia M. Wiman, 91, of Hampstead, NC., formerly of Fort Washington, MD., passed away on September 29, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents: Gladys Othella (Stocksdale) and Dewey William Bowling; husband: Kenneth G. Wiman; sister: Anita Alice Bowling; and son Keith Eric Wiman.

She is survived by her son Steve Wiman and his wife Stephanie, of Elverta, CA.; daughter in law Nilda Wiman, of Waldorf, MD.; son Carl Wiman and his wife Linda, of Winter Garden, FL; daughter Gail Teibel and husband Mitch, of Wilmington, NC.; and daughter Susan Essid and husband Chris, of Hampstead, NC. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters.

Virginia was married to Rear Admiral Kenneth G. Wiman, United States Coast Guard (Ret) for 68 years. She was a loving mother to 5 children and instrumental in supporting their military family for 36 years in various locations including Alaska, Texas, Connecticut, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. Virginia volunteered for many years at the Surratt House Museum, the U.S. Coast Guard Wives Club, Oxon Hill Garden and Antique Clubs. Her and Ken loved to travel and see plays and concerts, regularly attending events at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC for over 20 years. Virginia greeted everyone she met with a smile and would frequently ask people what they were doing to have fun.

She will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery next to her late husband, Rear Admiral Kenneth G. Wiman.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made in her name to the Lower Cape Fear Life Care Foundation. A special thanks to the staff at Arbor Landing of Hampstead for taking great care of her.
