Virginia Riddle Moore

Virginia Riddle Moore, age 92, of Wilmington, passed away on August 19, 2014 at Pacifica Senior Living.

She was born January 24, 1922 in Cumberland County, a daughter of the late Agustus Riddle and Sudie Carter.

Virginia lived in Wilmington since 1976 and was a very active member of the First Baptist Church Carolina Beach where she played the organ. She donated her time as a volunteer for 25 years at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Virginia attended Campbell University and received her degree in education from East Carolina University. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Cumberland County.

Among the things Virginia loved to do most were traveling, working in her garden, and sewing.

Together with her parents she was predeceased by her husband James Clayborne Moore, brother Durham Riddle, and sisters Kathleen Greason and Mary Sessoms.

Virginia is survived by her daughter Ginny Pratt and son in law Gary of Wilmington and her grand dog Gaby.

A special word of thanks to the entire staff at Pacifica Senior Living and Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 22, 2014, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM., at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation, 1535 S.41st Street, Wilmington, NC 28403. A service to celebrate Virginia’s life will take place at 11:00 AM, Rev. Dr. James Brown officiating. A private burial to follow in Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers memorials made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1406 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401, in memory of Virginia would be greatly appreciated.
