Virginia Yount Robinson


Virginia Yount Robinson of Wilmington, N.C. and formerly of Conover, N.C. passed from her earthly life to her heavenly home on May 27, 2011 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter in Wilmington.

Virginia was born in Morganton, N.C. on August 1 in 1930, the daughter of the late Ervin Caldwell Yount and Mary Walton Yount and was preceded by her husband Robert Rhyne Robinson, sisters Alice Yount Wagoner, Margaret Yount Smith.

Virginia was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and a great cook. For many years she was a member of the Newton-Conover Service League, a Red Cross volunteer and a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Conover before she and “Bob” relocated to Wilmington to be near family.

She is survived by a sister Mary Yount Fagan of Hickory, a son Robert Rhyne Robinson Jr. and wife Valerie Auten Robinson of Winston-Salem; a daughter Alice Yount Robinson Calder and husband John Keith Calder of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Joshua David Robinson, of Winston Salem; Kelly Erin Calder of Oakland , California and Emily Alice Calder of Wilmington.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Bass-Smith Funeral Home followed by a burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Hickory.

Memorials may be given to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, N.C.
