Walter A. Sisson died September 18, 2018 at the age of 91. He was born in Jasper, TX, to the late Thomas Luther Sisson and late Gay Lee Phillips.
Walter is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Bauer Sisson; his daughter Renee Sisson Frank and husband Lester; his son Wyatt A. Sisson and wife Pam; granddaughters Lindsay Alexander and husband Ian, Jennifer Frank and husband Daniel Harber, and Claire Sisson; his grandson Jacob Sisson; his great-grandchildren Evia and Emile Alexander; his niece Wanda Zwahr and husband Roger; and his nephew J.W. Hargrove. He also leaves his “adopted” family, Charles and Carol Carroll and Chip and Susan Carroll.
Walter worked for the W. R. Grace Company starting in Puerto Rico, then in Wilmington, and finally in Bartow, Florida. After he retired, he returned to the Wilmington area where he and Mary enjoyed RV travel across the U.S. , Canada, and Mexico. He and Mary were avid square dancers for many years. He helped to organize the 76’ers Square Dance Club and was the charter president.
Walter lived an adventurous and full life and will live in the memories of his many family and friends.
His family will receive relatives and friends in the Wilmington Funeral Chapel from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018 with a memorial service beginning at 2 p.m.
