Walter Graham Barnhill, age 86 of Wilmington passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014 at his home.

He was born in Pender County, NC on July 24, 1928 to Walter James Barnhill and Mary Dora Shepard Barnhill.

Walter was a faithful member of Winter Park Baptist Church for over 50 years and a member of King Solomon Lodge # 138 A.F. & A.M. in Burgaw. Walter worked for Cross Seed Company and later retired from W R Grace Chemical Co. with 27 years of service. He was a proud veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife Betty Anne Barnhill; one son, Randy Barnhill and wife Jennifer of Tallahassee, FL and one daughter, Melody Barnhill of Wilmington; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Walter Neil Barnhill.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held 3 pm Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel officiated by Rev. Mark Teachey. Masonic Funeral Service Honors will be presented by King Solomon Lodge #138 and Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard. The family will see friends beginning at 2 pm.
