Walter “Sonny” Lee Underwood Jr. , age 74, of Currie passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Northchase Nursing and Rehabilitation.

He was born January 4, 1941 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina the son of the late Walter Lee Underwood Sr. and Madge Ozell Bridges Underwood.

Sonny was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing and camping, but the thing that he enjoyed most was being able to trade, barter and negotiate items. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed spending time in the company of his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Judy Underwood; sons, Sonny Lee Underwood and wife Ginny Lee and Walter Clay Underwood; daughters, Sherry Lee Little and Angela Faye Gore and husband Harold; twelve grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
A service will held at a later date.
