Memorial Gifts & Donations

Willa “MaMa” Barefoot Baker, 95, was called gently to her Heavenly home on March 18, 2024 where I’m without doubt she was met with the open arms of her loving husband of 67 years, Gordon B. Baker, who preceded her in death nearly a decade ago.

In addition to her husband, Willa was also reunited with her parents, George R. and Ada L. Barefoot, her son Gordon Ray Baker, and siblings Marion B. Barefoot, Jesaman Barefoot, Wilma Lee, Horace Barefoot, G. R. Barefoot, Jr., Naylor Barefoot, Martha “Pete” Trivette, and Max Barefoot.

She is survived by her son, Donald Baker, sister Sara Jackson, grandchildren Bryan Baker, Laura Williams, Roxanne Baker, Amanda Baker, and Roseann Brewer, 10 great-grandchildren, and daughter in law Cathy Baker. Willa’s legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on through her family and friends.

Willa was born on December 2, 1928 in Dunn, NC. She lived a long, happy life with her husband, family, and many friends. She had a career as a Dental Assistant. Willa was a devoted member of Mingo Baptist Church and was their eldest member until her passing. She proudly lived her life for The Lord and radiated Godly love to all of those around her. She truly was extraordinary and will be greatly missed by all of those that knew her.

A memorial service will be held at Mingo Baptist Church at 2:00pm on Saturday March 23, 2024.

The McDuffie Family from Maryland sends condolences and prayers to the family. I will be thinking of everyone tomorrow at the Memorial Service for Willa. I am going to missed the days when I would stay with my grandparents Mac and Majorie McDuffie I am going to miss the days when I would stop by and see Willa even if the visit was very short coming through Dunn from Myrtle Beach and the other times I stayed with my grandparents Mac and Majorie I had a chance to see Willa and visit with Willa. The one thing I am going to missed the phone calls for my grandmother Majorie McDuffie would receive from Willa that Willa would be checking on my grandparents Mac and Majorie if they needed anything. I am going to missed the conversations I had with Willa. Willa will be missed and I am going to missed the days stopping through Dunn and seeing Willa. I still missed the days going through Dunn seeing Willa stopping by and seeing my grandparents Mac and Majorie which I certainly do missed.

A woman who truly would go out of her way to help. She made everything better as best as she could. Her cooking was always a hug for your stomach and plentiful at that. She has loved her family with every ounce of her being. May her soul receive every beautiful beam of light that she has brought to so many. Rest well while flying high. Forever loved 💞
