William Akin DeLaughter, age 79 of Leland NC passed away on Tuesday January 15, 2019 at his home.

He was born in Texarkana, Texas on December 23, 1939 to the late Vivian Clifford DeLaughter and Desdemona Belle Akin DeLaughter.

Bill was a proud veteran of the US Air Force and was a graduate of Bryant University in Springfield, RI with a degree in Accounting. He had a longtime career with Atlantic Richfield Petroleum Company as a Accountant and later worked with the Valley Forge Flag Manufacturer in Wolmsdorf, PA. After his retirement he moved to Leland, NC. After his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his lawn and garden.

Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years Antonette Tranka DeLaughter; children Ann Marie Wallace (Peter), William Michael DeLaughter (Judy), and James Edward DeLaughter (Christine Gramlich); grandchildren Andrew Ian Wallace, Barbara Ann DeLaughter, Dean Michael DeLaughter, Sara Alyce Wallace, William Christopher Wallace, and Sky Robert DeLaughter. Grandson James Brandon DeLaughter preceded him in death. Sister, Vivian Soto; brothers, David DeLaughter, Stanley DeLaughter, and Keith DeLaughter. He was preceded in death by brothers, James DeLaughter and Samuel DeLaughter.

Memorial service will be held 1 pm Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Shiloh United Methodist Church 1874 Maco Road Leland, NC 28451
