Memorial Gifts & Donations

William ”Billy” Parrish passed away at his home on September 30, 2023 at the age of 87, surrounded by his family following a brief illness.

Billy was born on July 13, 1936, in Wilmington, NC, to the late James Franklin Parrish Sr and Pearl Jenkins. He married Mary Ellen Webb in 1957. They resided in Wilmington and raised 3 daughters; Freda, Anita, Billie, and two sons; Eugene and Hampton.

Billy’s work experience was as diverse as the skills he possessed, from sales to construction to utility work. He retired from the City of Wilmington Public Utility Authority.

Billy was a faithful servant and original charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Wilmington. He found solace and strength in his faith.

Billy was known for his love of NASCAR, WWE, old westerns, and quick wit. He always had a joke to tell. His passion for his country knew no bounds, and he took great pride in his son and two grandchildren who served in the military.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved bride of 54 years, Mary Ellen Parrish, his brother, James Franklin Parrish Jr, and three grandchildren. Billy is survived by his children; Freda Parrish, Anita Costin (B.C.), Billie Zakis (Doug), Eugene Parrish (Traci), and Hampton Parrish (Nancy), his sister Peggy Eagle, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Billy’s memory to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare of Wilmington. The link to donate can be found here.

A celebration of Billy’s life will be held at a later date.
