William “Bill” Bryant Cooper, Sr., 85, left this world to be with his Heavenly Father on March 22, 2016, surrounded by his family and friends.

Bill was born to the late George and Naomi Cooper in Wilmington, NC on February 12, 1931.

Once retired Bill used his carpentry skills to make wooden crosses by hand for fellow believers. His interests included family, woodworking and fishing.  He devoted much of his time and energy to his church, Gospel Fellowship Holiness Church in Castle Hayne, NC where he was a faithful member and deacon.

Bill was blessed with a large and loving family.  He is survived by his wife, Catherine M. Cooper; his son Billy Cooper, Jr (Janice); his daughters, Wanda Bryant (Clayton), Linda Jarrett (Gary), Faye Gillen, Loretta Greene (Rudolph), and Lorene Luffman (Randy); 13 grandchildren, Robert, April, Christa, Jerry, George, Tabitha, Donald, Michelle, Eugene, Kim, Miranda, Ray, Jr., and Bryan; 27 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Dewey, his parents, and his grandson, Michael Sheppard.

Family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, March 26, 2016, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Wilmington Funeral and Cremation Chapel, 1535 South 41st Street, Wilmington, NC and will be followed by a Funeral Service led by Reverend Robert Wilson, and Reverend William Cooper, Jr. at 7:00 pm.

Interment will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016, 2:00 pm at Prospect Cemetery for those who can attend.

    Brother cooper or as we called him mr cooper loved life the lord his family and his service not only to our country but to his church.He was strong willed man with the kindness of a newborn puppy He never shyied away from his beliefs and convictions of this world he left a mark on everyone he meet but I believe mr coopers biggest goal in this short life we are granted was opening his eyes to the gold streets the lord has now given him to walk and he will walk them along with his sidekicks that went before him mrs ruby&mr philip he is not alone God be with you and our church pastor billy&sister janice he left you and his daughters to carry on what the has made for you...love God bless john&melody Hoyt.
