William Dean Cothren


William (Bill) Cothren was born in 1930 in Wilkes County, NC

He was raised on a farm and loved raising animals and gardening.

He started working at Lowe’s Hardware in 1962. He worked at Lowe’s in North Wilkesboro then Raleigh then to Wilmington to manage the first Lowe’s store in Wilmington. He had been living in Wilmington for the last 40 years. After he retired he was a contractor remodeling and building several custom homes in Raleigh.

He loved building, fishing and playing golf.

He had 3 children, Alan Cothren, Gloria Jordan, and Tony Cothren, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

    I just found out about Bill's passing. I was so sorry to learn this. He was a special person. He was good to our family and we thought a lot of him. I had gone by to visit with him on several occasions after he was mostly confined to his home. I regret not going back again sooner. I will miss his friendship. My condolences to his family. .
