William Frederick “Fred” Canady 69, of Wilmington passed away Sunday July 8, 2012 at his home with Pancreatic Cancer.

Fred was born in Gray’s Creek, NC the son of the late William Levitte and Mildred Watson Canady. The 3rd of 10 children he was also preceded in death by brother Joe Canady and sister Evelyn Miller.

Fred along with his wife was the owners and operators of Canady & Son Exterminating for the past 36 years, which will continue in the family.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 43 years Judy, daughter Sandra Sullivan and husband Bryan, son Dustin Canady, two grandchildren Parker and Paige Sullivan all of Wilmington, brothers Earl, Richard, and Terry, sisters Ann Davis, Carolyn White, Linda Davis and Kathryn Wilson.

The family will see friends from from 6 PM until 8 PM Wednesday at Wilmington Funeral Chapel.

Fred was a devoted family man, and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. J. William Eakins and Dr. William McNulty and the entire staff of Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

    I am so sorry to hear of Fred's passing. I saw it on the news last night. He was such a wonderful person who always had a smile on his face. To me he was a part of "the old Wilmington Family" Judy, I can only imagine how hard this is on you and your children. Take comfort in knowing that he was a very loved man in the community and will also be in Heaven.
