William Jay Barker age 64, of Wilmington passed away September 16, 2013.

William was born August 17,1949 to Nina Elizabeth Barker and the late James Kenneth Barker.

William was a retired truck driver who loved Mopar automobiles and race cars. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and loved his pet, Rubin.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Rae Barker of Wilmington; his mother,Nina Barker of Pittsburgh,Pa; two sisters, Kay S. Rost MD of Sarasota, Fla and Connie B. Katzbeck and husband William of Pittsburgh, Pa; brother in law, Robert Wilson and wife Louanne of Leland; sister in law, Dorothy Gunning and husband Edwin of Castle Hayne; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 6 PM Thursday at Wilmington Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tim Russell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1406 Physicians Dr Wilmington, NC 28401.

    To the Family My deepest sympathy during this time of your loss. Death is an enemy that we as humans can not defeat, yet our Heavenly father has promised us that he will eliminate death forever (John 11:25, 35,36,41-44). Just knowing that there is a hope for our loved ones' future gives us the strength to carry on (Acts 24:15). My thoughts and sympathy are with your family at this most difficult time(Jude 2).

    Even though I did not know William personally, I really wanted to express my condolences to you and your family. God’s word the bible speaks of a time when death will be a thing of the past. Revelation 21:3, 4 is a comforting scripture that I wanted to share with you during your time of sadness.
