William Jennings Bryan


William Jennings Bryan age 82 of Wilmington passed away on Friday January 26, 2018 after a courageous battle with Lymphoma cancer.

He was born on June 18, 1935 to Kedar and Josephine Bryan whom preceded him in death.

William is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shelba Bryan; son Michael; daughter Karen; grandchildren Mary Lauren, Kader, Briana, Frankie, and great grandchild Eathen.

William was a proud Master Mason as a member of Orient Lodge #395 AF&AM for the past 50 years, member of AREME Chapter #372 OES, a veteran of the US Army and long-time member of BPO Elks Lodge #532. He was employed with Babcock and Wilcox until the early 80’s and retired from General Electric in 2000 to compete his career.

He had a great gift of gab and many talents. He will be missed by his family, friends, and acquaintances. William never met a stranger.

A memorial service will be held 2 pm Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. The family will see friends beginning at 1 until the service time.

In lieu of flowers consider a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society or the Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

    WJ was a great work buddy both at B&W and GE, ate a lot of lunches together. Will never understand how he kept that white tee shirt so clean.Will surely miss all those e-mails. Praying for all of you.
