Memorial Gifts & Donations

William Larry Smith age 82 of Wilmington, NC passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on March 27, 2024. He was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, the oldest child of William and Frances Smith.

The family moved to Wilmington when he was three months old, so he claims to be a true Wilmingtonian. He graduated from New Hanover High School and then Wilmington College. He proudly served in the Army Reserve Unit based in Wilmington. After retiring from International Paper, he made a career out of golfing, fishing and cheering for the UNC Tarheels. He was an active member of BPOE 532 and American Post 10.

He is survived by his partner of 37 years, Kelly Webb, daughters; Allison Saunders of SC, Kimberly Galentine (Clint) of Wilmington, sisters; Kathy Mercer (David), Julie Smith (David), Susan Ritter (Charlie) and many nieces and nephews. Pop-Pop’s pride and joy were his grandchildren; Austin (Nikki), Alexis, Max and Garrett.

He will be forever missed by his family and those who had the opportunity to know him.

A private service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers make a donation to your favorite charity.
