William Ray Spital

William Ray (Bill) Spital passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019, at the age of 65.

Bill was the son of Tommy Brown Spital and Barbara Young Spital of Carolina Beach, NC., and was the loving brother to Debra Spital Purvis and Frances Ann Spital both of Wilmington.

He was preceded in death by his parents Tommy and Barbara Spital, Paternal Grandparents Arlie Ray Spital and Lottie Fultz Spital of Pennsylvania. Maternal Grandparents Floyd N. Young and Frances Young of Carolina Beach, NC., and Nephew Jami L. Purvis of Wilmington, NC. He was also preceded in Death by his Beloved Golden Retriever King.

He is Survived by his sisters Debra Spital Purvis and Frances Ann Spital both of Wilmington, NC. Niece Brenda Keeter and Husband Cody, Great Niece Dixie Keeter and Great Nephew Cody Keeter Jr. of Bolivia, NC. Great Niece Angel Purvis and Great Great Nieces Sarriyah, NyAsia and Kali of Wilmington, NC

Bill graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Business. Owned Pantana Bobs in Greenville, NC  He also lived in Atlantic Beach, NC where he ran a Jet ski rental business until selling and moving back to Carolina Beach, NC. Once back to the beach he was a commercial fisherman and loved his time on and around the water. He loved surfing and fishing and his jet skis.   He sold his house at Carolina Beach and moved to Beaufort, NC where he bought a sailboat. He lived on his boat until his passing. He lived doing what he loved and he did it his way.

    l was Lucky enough to be first neighbors with The Spital family and then Best friends with Ann . l always had a secret crush on her good looking brother,Bill like alot of girls on our Island. He loved his family, loved to surf,and loved the Ocean.

    William. Bill as I knew him was a good friend at Food Lion where we worked together We worked together for 5 years. He always had a smile on his Face and a Happy Hello Everyday. Always willing to help and share. One day I had forgotten my lunch and he shared his. The next day I had shared some Homemade Strawberry Bread. from that time on we were hooked on being Friends. I will miss him My Heart and prayers are with the Family
