William “Bill” Richard Lowe, age 70, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Thursday, March 15, 2012.
He is survived by his wife Catherine Ibsen, his daughter Vanessa Lowe, his grandson Noah and his sister Diane Pinkham Faustino. He is predeceased by his mother Lyla Nadine Wolff and his father Elwood Richard Lowe.
Bill’s adventures in life included riding his bicycle from California to Boston in the early 70s and circumnavigating the world with Catherine in the 37 foot cutter Brigadoon in the early 90’s. He had recently retired from Anchors Away Boatyard in Hampstead. His skills in and for all things seaworthy were extensive and widely respected. Even more prized are his fine wooden sculptures and other wood workings which grace his and Catherine’s home.
There will be a gathering of his friends on Friday, March 23 at the home, 596 Captain Beam Blvd. in Hampstead. Complete meditational silence will be observed between 4:00 and 5:00.
There will be a formal sitting meditation between 4:00 and 4:30 followed by silent walking meditation either formally or informally. If you are planning to attend the formal sitting, please come early, and it would be helpful to bring a meditation cushion, though chairs and meditation benches will be available. At 5:00 we will gather to share stories and pot luck food. All are welcome.
