William “Sam” Samuel White


William Samuel “Sam” White, age 60, of Wilmington, died Sunday, November 20, 2011, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin White, Sr., and Eunice Beasley White.

A native of Oxford, Mr. White was educated in the Oxford Public Schools and attended Mt. Olive College. He was a longtime Wilmington resident and was employed as a salesman at Apex Oil Company. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, where he served as a visiting lay minister.

Mr. White is survived by one brother, Ben White, of Durham.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 23, at 3 p.m. in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 16 N. 16th St., Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Outreach Program at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 16 N. 16th St., Wilmington NC 28401.

    Mr. Sam was indeed a great man. He will be missed dearly in the asphalt industry. I will always remember Sam as a someone that was quick to tell you a funny joke and lift your spirits up with his big smile.
